Overview
The Brighton Theatre Auditorium is, as described, a Black Box theatre design featuring a Masonite on ply flat floor painted in a traditional low sheen theatre black. The stage is set with tormentor drapes, located either side of the main performance area with a fixed apron running the width of the stage. Traditionally, ‘Black Box’ theatres did not have a proscenium arch however Brighton Theatre's design allowed for these two ‘tormentor drapes’ to be placed either side of the wide open stage, creating both a ‘false’ proscenium arch as well as side wings and a back stage area.
In addition to the tormentor drapes, a subtle black apron runs across the top of the stage, allowing for a motorised tab track to be installed for the opening and closing of the front-of-house stage curtains. With three removable wings per side and a retractable rear black drape back drop or motorised projection screen (used as a cyclorama), the stage has been designed to ensure it will not interfere with any set design.
In its fully open form, the stage can be all but bare with no drapes, wings or cyclorama’s in the performance space (please note however that the tormentor drapes are non-removable); this allows for the greatest of flexibility in any stage designs or usage. Alternately, with all stage wings in place, the upstage projection screen down and rear black drapes masking the screen, this flexible space has been transformed into a fully functioning theatre venue.
A comprehensive range of industry standard Lighting, Audio and Vision equipment has been installed into the Brighton Theatre ensuring that the right technology for your event is at your fingertips. Further, with motorised fly bars and additional rigging abilities, Brighton Theatre has the flexibility to add dramatic effects to any performance or exhibition.
